February 2019
To All Saudi Arabian Swim Teams:
The 2019 AFSA Saudi Arabian Swimming Championships will take place on May 3rd and 4th in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The Dhahran Youth Swim League (DYSL) looks forward to hosting the Championships, at the Dhahran Hills Pool, situated in Saudi Aramco facilities in Dhahran. This is an enclosed compound with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating made available for our guests and a warm up / cool down pool situated alongside the main eight-lane competition pool. We are confident that you will enjoy the location and facilities provided and we will strive to host a safe, well-organized and efficiently run meet. A strong emphasis on safety is being placed on this event with two large air-conditioned, lit, carpeted tents (10 x 20; 10 x 15 meters) provided for seating of swimmers and parents to keep them cool and out of the direct sunlight. We look forward to working together toward a competitive and memorable event for all the swimmers who have put so much effort and training into preparing for these Championships.
Eastern region teams extend their invitation to fellow swim teams in both the Central and Western regions to participate in what we anticipate to be a very enjoyable and successful championship. Our aim is to make this event safe, enjoyable and full of fun for all swimmers, parents, officials, volunteers, and other participants and bring together all the Kingdoms teams in a friendly and welcoming environment. Enclosed within this package is relevant information to allow each team to prepare themselves for this exciting event. The Championships take a tremendous amount of time to organize and I want to thank the entire DYSL board for their help throughout the organizing process. Brad Nielson will be the Meet Referee and Jacques Olckers will be Security Director, both of who are essential to the smooth running of the event. On behalf of the DYSL Board, I want to thank the Saudi Aramco Central Community Services Department/Recreation Division for their continuous support in setting up the facilities to make our swimmers and visitors as comfortable as possible during the two-day event. Saudi Aramco Safety and Industrial Security kindly provided the funding for the large air-conditioned tents. Hassan Iqbal has been instrumental in organizing many aspects of this meet and also deserves our thanks.
The success of the AFSA Saudi Arabian Swimming Championships would not be possible, however, without your collaboration and support. In the coming weeks, you may be receiving additional information regarding the Championships. Each communication will either supplement or supersede prior communications as details regarding the event become available. We have sent this information pack early to allow you to all start preparing for the Championships in regard to booking your accommodations in Dhahran and we look forward to welcoming you all at the 2019 AFSA Saudi Arabian Swimming Championships in Dhahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Sincerely,
Jem Babbington
